The Flower of Life parasol is fun to make and a great way to show off your love for crochet and create fun conversation!
You can get very creative with color combinations and variegated/black light reflective yarn, I originally made one for fun to parade around at music festivals and use as a promotional tool, it also gives some shade too! This is a great accent to a fun costume and a really great way to advertise your love for crochet!
You can up-cycle an umbrella or find various sizes that will work with this pattern, you can easily customize it to fit a variety of frames. I have made this design with the larger flat shape and also the more bell shaped frame- you just need to carefully take note of how the fabric is attached so that you can attach the motif correctly.
I have found decent quality umbrellas at 5 below at thrift stores with 8 spokes. Keep in mind if you look at resale shops to make sure it’s not broken or rusted and that it opens/closed properly and your good to go!
You will need 1-2 skeins depending which size you are making,
However if you are doing color work this could easily be a stash buster pattern as well, estimated yardage is 3-500 yards.
